The following are examples of some initiatives of previous Paso working committees that became ongoing, self-sustaining programs in Taos County.

Collaborative Teachers Institute

CTI offers a unique opportunity for educators to advance their professional development and become pedagogical leaders within their community. The focus is on the joy of learning and the capabilities of young children and how teachers can learn from children when they observe, listen and study together. CTI holds monthly structured meetings where teachers come together to reflect on their work with children, sharing their experiences and their documentation of children’s work.

Reflective Supervision

Reflective Supervision promotes and supports the development of a relationship-based organization. This approach expands on the idea that supervision is a context for learning and professional development. The three building blocks of reflective supervision are reflection, collaboration and regularity. The concept of collaboration emphasizes sharing the responsibility and control of relationship-based interactions. The Children’s Trust Fund/Taos Loves Kids funds facilitation of monthly reflective supervision meetings, addresses vicarious trauma, and encourages collaboration, cooperation and networking among early childhood center directors.

Taos County Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income. We are happy to bring this program to Taos, NM.

Circle of Security

Circle of Security is an innovative, intervention program designed to improve the developmental pathway of children and their parents. It began as a user-friendly description of attachment theory and integrated over 50 years of early childhood development research into a video-based intervention that strengthens parents and caregivers ability to improve parenting skills. Attachment theory offers clear individualized pathways for providing a secure relationship between parent and child. Taos Kids Love provides ongoing Circle of Security groups for both parents as well as educators working with young children.
